Bryan Gardiner

It was sometime in 2003 (I think) when I ran into Rene at the dialysis center where my mother was receiving dialysis 3 times per week.  I was visiting from California and my mother was telling me that there was a person at the center that was in my graduating class at Bowie. I drove my mother to dialysis on this particular day and I heard a voice from across the room say, "Hi Bryan."  It was Rene.  I went to her and asked her how she had been (feeling stupid because she was receiving dialysis), she said, "I've been good."  I think I said a few more words to her and then told her "goodbye," rushing to run some errand or something.  I really wish I had stayed  and talked with her for a while.  For someone who was as sick as she was to go out of her way to say hello...I was really moved.

Everyday we have connections with one another, never take them for granted, you may not get a second chance.  Rest in peace Rene!
